From May 16th to 18th 2014, the El Salvador Central District held the “Followers” conference, where 500 people attended. Leaders, youth and parents listened to special topics designed for each group. The guest speaker was Dr. Jeffrey de Leon, executive director International Youth Leadership. Dr. de Leon has over 25 years experience in youth and family issues.
The event began on Friday with an exclusive conference for pastors and youth leaders. Dr. Jeffrey de Leon talked about offensive and scandalous leadership; the balance between grace and divine truth It was a very beneficial time for the leadership.
The conference continued on Saturday with all the young people. It was a great festivity with the praise led by Nazarene worship ministers. There were two workshops, one of which was about “How to be a Jesus follower in postmodern times?” by Dr. Jeffrey de León. There was a time of questions named “Live to the Point “. This was a very productive and intense time, as young people had the opportunity to ask all sorts of questions anonymously, they resolved their doubts in the best place to do it, they asked about sex, pornography and other topics.
On Sunday the 18th a parent’s conference was held in the “En Hacore” Christian School, where Dr. de Leon shared on: “We are parents and who can help us now?” Andrea Villanueva, part of the organizational team commented that it was very important to spend time with the parents since families are the base of society and the place where young people learn about the most important values of life.
This event was organized by a total of 13 people who make up the Center District NYI Council. They worked hard for 6 months in the organization and were praying for 6 years to get the right person to share lectures and topics.
The conference was a great success and blessing, objectives were met. Pray for the 500 people who were sown the seed of the gospel of Christ. Pray for our NYI in the Mesoamerican region, that the Lord will guide and bless them.
