On March 7–8, 110 women from the Costa Rica Central District participated in the “Take Better Care of Yourself” retreat held at Casa de Dios in San José. The event provided a space for healing, restoration, and spiritual strengthening as attendees reflected on God’s love and grace through times of worship, teaching, and ministry.

The initiative was born in the heart of Gladys Vindas, president of the Crecer ministry, alongside Rebeca Martínez, district Nazarene Discipleship International president, and Pastor Yorleny Herz, who led the event’s organization. Featured speakers, including Pastors Kimberly Arce, Jeannette Barboza, and Rebeca Martínez, shared messages on emotional healing, forgiveness, and the renewal of the mind. They addressed crucial topics such as depression, anxiety, and mental strongholds that hinder spiritual growth.

The event’s preparation was supported by the constant prayers of the district’s churches and a prior spiritual retreat for the speakers, who sought divine guidance for their ministry. The district superintendent actively supported the planning, while the men’s group “VID,” led by Wilberth Picado, together with pastors and lay leaders, contributed to logistics and spiritual support.

The impact of the retreat was evident in the participants’ testimonies. Stephanie Sánchez shared: “From the very first day of the retreat, my love for service was rekindled. My time with the Lord has increased, and I feel strengthened and accompanied.” Likewise, Mary Anaís Rojas expressed: “It was a refreshing time in order to continue serving our Lord. Above all else, guard your heart.”

This gathering not only marked a turning point in the lives of each attendee but also ignited a passion to spread the message of healing and hope in local churches. As Rebeca Martínez highlighted: “When we work together and unite as one body under the leadership of Christ, we see His hand moving in amazing and transformative ways. Cooperation and mutual support are essential for spiritual growth and to carry the message of hope to more hearts in need.”
